Panoramic View

I stitched together a panoramic view of the theater room framing last night. Also, had a wall fall on my head... ouch.

Finishing the Basement

Well we finally decided to start finishing the basement, so we can get our theater room. Here's what we have planned for the space:

We should get a decent amount of storage under the steps and next to the bathroom. We are thinking of putting a wine closet, bar, theater room, 1/2 bath and pool table down there so far...Nick used this neat program to sketch it out and you can actually zoom down and pretend you are walking the floor and see how the room will be...you can also see the different layers, etc.....

We bought some wood 2 weeks ago and went through most of it on a few walls, so we just got another order of 200 2x4's from home depot this past week. Hopefully that will hold us for awhile, because that was an experience. The guy was really nice when he came to the house and asked us where we wanted the wood (we had cleaned a spot out in the garage for it, since the bilco door in the back was covered with all of the snow/ice from last week's storm), so we told him just to drop it in the driveway and we would carry it into the garage. Then he asked if he could take a look at the bilco, because he was thinking that he might be able to drive around back and just drop the wood there for us to make it easier to get it into the basement...So we tried walking around the house and are having a heck of a time because of the ice and we are all sliding and eventually we got to the back and Nick pointed out the bilco and as he did that, he started sliding down the hill...he couldn't stop himself and ended up going all the way down. He had to go to the neighboring lot to come back up since there was lots of brush there he could hold on to :) But the Home Depot delivery guy decided that he could bring the forklift back there no problem since it's 6000lbs. So we say ok, and he starts driving it around to the back...as soon as he got back there and started turning it to head towards the bilco, he started sliding and got stuck in a rut. So he ended up driving down the hill, but once he was down there he couldn't get back up. He was down there for almost 2 hours before he made it back up the neighboring lot. At one point he had gotten off of the forklift to try and ask the builders next door for help, and he ended up sliding down the hill on his butt! So he just got back on the forklift and kept trying :) Finally after numerous stalls and slides later he made it up the hill and drove right around to the front of the house and asked where we wanted the wood...so nick said how about the driveway ;) He said sounds good...hahha....so he ended up putting it right in the driveway. We worked on the basement a little more that night and made some decent progress....
These pics are all of the theater room and equipment closet. We are making the walls double studded to crack down on the noise, so once this room is done the rest should go quicker since we won't be using as many boards per wall!
