Wood Floor and Staircases

You can see the countertop has been placed on the island. Also, I can just make out the knobs for the cooktop. I'm not sure if the downdraft piping was installed yet or not though.

The carpet was delivered. They did a pretty good job cleaning up the floor from what I could see. So hopefully, there won't be any bumps in the carpet.

If you look close, you can also see they have a brace on the oven cabinet. They must be trying to glue it back together rather than replacing it. Should be interesting to see what it looks like.

The rear staircase railing and spindles were put in. They look pretty nice. The railing is darker than I thought it would be, which is a good thing, because it should match the fireplace mantel nicely.

To our surprise the hardwood floor was laid. So much for the letter they gave us stating we would have to call the installer and have it installed after closing so as to avoid it being scratched.

We are somewhat dissapointed with the wood flooring. We couldn't get a real good look at it from outside, but you can see there are definite color variations. The sample they showed us at the design center was probably 3'x2' and had NO color variations. I'll have to make sure they installed the correct hardwood and if so, we'll just have to be happy with what we got.

Now my concern is that in the picture you can see footprint on the flooring already. They didn't cover it to prevent it from being scratched. So did they drag those carpet rolls across it?

Boy I wish I could still get into the house!
